Details & Features
If you're cutting hay or managing pasture on a smaller operation, you need a mower that tracks the ground well, cuts cleanly, and doesn't give you headaches at the end of the day. The NOVADISC 222 is Pöttinger's entry into their rear disc mower lineup — and it earns its place on properties where precision and durability matter more than raw size.
The NOVADISC 222's side pivot suspension with weight alleviation springs lets the cutter bar float independently over uneven terrain. On the kind of lumpy, rolling ground common across Pacific Northwest properties, that matters. A mower that fights your contours leaves missed patches and uneven swaths. One that follows them lays down a clean, consistent cut every pass.
At 7.2 ft (2.2 m) working width with five mower discs and 10 blades, the 222 covers 2.2 hectares per hour — solid output for smaller operations without needing more tractor than you have. The 540 RPM rear PTO connection keeps it compatible with a wide range of compact and utility tractors at 40 HP and up.
When you hit a rock or a hidden obstacle (and in this region, you will), the mechanical breakaway device trips before damage reaches the cutter bar. That's not a minor detail — repairs on disc mower cutter bars aren't cheap, and a protection system that works reliably is worth a lot over the life of a machine.
The TRI DRIVE drivetrain distributes power efficiently across the cutter bar, reducing stress on individual components and contributing to the smooth running Pöttinger designed this series around. The powder-coated finish is built to hold up in the field, not just look good on the showroom floor.
The 222 lays a 1.3 m swath without swath discs, or tightens that to 0.9 m with a pair of swath discs — useful when you want a narrower windrow for faster wilting or cleaner pickup with smaller equipment. Vertical transport folding keeps the transport height manageable at 2.6 m when moving between fields or down the road.
