The MT242H runs a four-cylinder liquid-cooled Yanmar diesel, putting out 42.5 gross horsepower and 34.8 PTO horsepower — the PTO number being what actually matters when you're powering a rotary cutter, finish mower, or tiller. The three-range hydrostatic transmission gives you clutch-free operation with enough range variety to creep through loader work or open up for field mowing without hunting for the right gear.

The LS loader on the MT242H lifts 2,505 lbs — enough for serious hay handling, gravel moving, or clearing after a Pacific Northwest windstorm. The four-point mount structure gives you a digging depth of 97.2 inches and a bucket digging force of 3,663 lbs, so you're not just pushing material around — you're actually moving it. Skid steer quick-attach comes standard, which means the attachment inventory you already own probably works.

Long days in the seat matter. LS redesigned the cab configuration on the MT242H to add headroom and forward visibility, and significantly improved seat comfort. Cruise control and LED headlamps are standard, and the RPM interlocking switch lets you momentarily boost loader speed with a toggle without reaching for the throttle — a small detail that adds up over a full day of work.

The differential lock and 4WD handle the wet hillside situations that give smaller tractors fits. When the ground is soft in February and you need to get something done, you want both of those engaged.
