Details & Features
Getting hay dry fast matters in the Pacific Northwest, where weather windows can close quickly. The Pöttinger HIT HT 8680 gives you 29 feet, 1 inch of working width in a trailed machine that folds down to just 9 feet, 6 inches for transport — wide enough to make serious progress, narrow enough to move between fields without a headache.
The HT 8680's trailed design puts no load on your tractor hitch, which means smaller tractors can pull this machine without stressing your equipment. Despite the large working width, tractor power required for tedding remains relatively low. That's a practical advantage when you're already asking a lot of your equipment during hay season.
Eight rotors cover that full working width, each built around Pöttinger's DYNATECH rotor system — a 1.42-meter diameter rotor with six curved tine arms. The rotor chassis guides the tines while the main frame supports the rotor itself, meaning the inner rotors don't carry extra weight during operation. Weight distributes evenly across all rotor wheels, keeping working height consistent across the full width. That even contact with the ground means cleaner forage and less dirt and ash pulled into your windrow.
When you fold out of a tight turn or hit uneven ground, tines that drag or scrape cost you forage quality. The LIFTMATIC PLUS lifting system addresses this directly. A single-acting spool valve moves the rotors by motion link into the horizontal position and then raises them, which prevents tines from scraping the ground. LIFTMATIC PLUS also reduces the weight acting on the tines, increasing both durability and output.
The fenceline tedding feature lets you fold the two outer-right rotors back 15 degrees hydraulically, distributing forage evenly to the mowed area without leaving a swath at the field edge. That's less cleanup work and cleaner transitions along neighboring crops or fence lines.
The BASIC CONTROL electric pre-select system is standard on models with hydraulic rotor height adjustment, and it handles folding to transport position, height adjustment, and fenceline tedding — all from the tractor seat using just one double-acting spool valve.
Ideal For:
- Commercial hay and silage operations needing high daily output
- Operators who need wide coverage but road-legal transport width
- Properties where field conditions vary and consistent ground tracking matters
- Operators using smaller tractors who need to maximize their equipment investment
